Drummond’s Mallory Pool – FFA spotlight – presented by farm credit of enid

Mallory Pool is a senior at Drummond High School where she is a member of the FFA chapter at school.

“I first got involved in FFA the first day of eighth grade and have been a part of the organization ever since. I showed goats through 4-H several years before that so when I hit eighth grade, I just transitioned into FFA,” said Pool. “My brother is two years older than me and joined FFA when he was in eighth grade also. He became a chapter officer, went to national convention, and got really involved with our chapter. When I was in seventh grade, he kept telling me that I had to join FFA next year. I had already planned on it because of showing but having someone I trusted and respected tell me how much he loved it gave me the push I needed.”

One thing Pool said she has enjoyed most about FFA is the opportunity to meet other people and build new friendships.

“Definitely the connections. My two best friends to this day were my roommates my first year in the National FFA Chorus when I was in tenth grade. They are from New Mexico and Kentucky and even though we are so far apart, our friendship is still so strong and that is in large thanks to what the FFA gave us. One of them is actually coming to watch me graduate in May, and I am so thankful for FFA giving us that lifetime friendship,” said Pool.

Currently serving as the chapters Vice President, Pool has been involved in many other activities within FFA.

“I have been a chapter officer for four years. I am on the agronomy CDE team, I livestock judge, and public speak for Drummond. The Regional Speech Contest recently took place and I placed 1st in Agribusiness Prepared Public Speaking and 1st in Extemporaneous Public Speaking which advances me to Area. Our chapter also does several volunteer activities in our community and we host a Labor Auction and Trophy Sale every year,” said Pool. “Myself and another senior, during our freshman year started a Back to School Bash tradition in our chapter which has happened every year since. I have also been top salesmen for our chapter for four years selling over $20,000 of Blue & Gold Sausage as a fundraiser.”

Pool also serves as the President of the Drummond Student Council and the captain of the Academic Team.

“I also am the chief editor of our school’s yearbook and I am the captain of the cheer squad. I have been involved in all these organizations for all four years of high school,” said Pool.
