OBA’s Jett Cheatham – Enid area athlete spotlight – presented security national bank

Jett Cheatham is a four-sport athlete at Oklahoma Bible Academy. The senior competes on the Trojans football, basketball, baseball, and track and field teams. Cheatham is a four-year starter on the football team, where he’s played safety since his freshman year and started at running back since his sophomore year. Cheatham finished his senior with 2,154 all-purpose yards, 30 touchdowns, 71 tackles, and four interceptions. Finishing with a 7-5 record, OBA qualified for the postseason, defeating Healdton in the first round to give the Trojans their first playoff win in eight years. Cheatham scored five of the team’s nine touchdowns in the 51-14 playoff win.

“That was a cool moment for me because I played really well, but at the same time, we got to soak up our first playoff win in eight years at home with my teammates and coaches,” Cheatham said.

Cheatham started for the second-straight season at the point guard position for the Trojans basketball squad. He averaged 12.4 points, 6.3 assists, and 5.2 rebounds per game during his senior season.

Cheatham is a four-year starter on the baseball team, where he plays center field, shortstop, and sees time on the mound as a pitcher as well. He made an impression early on after being named to the all-conference team his freshman year. This season, Cheatham was named the conference player of the year and also set the school record for stolen bases while also leading the pitching staff in strikeouts. A big reason the Trojans broke a school record for most wins in a season (22) and won the school’s first district title in 15 years.

Lastly, Cheatham is a part of the 4x100m and 4x200m relay teams and runs in the 100m dash. He won the regional championship for the 100m dash and is currently the No. 1 100m dash runner in Class A with a personal best of 10.6 seconds.

Cheatham is committed to play football at Friends University in Wichita, Kansas. He plans to major in kinesiology and pursue a career in coaching or personal training.
