Chisholm’s Lauren Elliott – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by McGraw Realtors

By Derrick Smith

Throughout an athlete’s career, they are influenced by different people. These influences help shape what kind of athlete this person becomes. Lauren Elliott says that she has had a few people that have helped shape her into the athlete and student that she is today.

“The biggest influences have been my coaches,” she said. “My school volleyball coach, Jonathan Robbins, and my two club volleyball coaches, Valarie Franciso and Jessica Ransom have all three motivated and pushed me to be my best. In the classroom, Mr. Snider would have to be my biggest influence. He was my eighth-grade history teacher, and even though that year was cut short due to Covid, he taught me so much. Not only about history but also my ability to accomplish whatever I put my mind to.”

Elliott is a sophomore at Chisholm high school. She is a libero and defensive specialist on the Lady Longhorns volleyball team. She began playing volleyball when she was in the seventh grade and says that it has taken a lot for her to be the player she is today.

“I have sacrificed a lot to be the player I am,” she said. “Between club ball and school ball, I basically play year around. But I know the time on the court will make me a better player.”

She has made a lot of great memories over her years of playing volleyball. But she says that the highlight moment is more of something that developed this past season.

“The highlight of my career so far would be experiencing this last club season,” she said. “I was able to see how volleyball can build such tight bonds between teammates and coaches. It felt amazing to accomplish goals as a team.”

Elliott is also a member of the student council and is a manager for the Chisholm baseball team.

“I am on track to be valedictorian,” she stated. “I was one of the top students in my class last season with a 4.2 grade point average.
