Parents not only raise and take care of their children, but they also provide an example for them to look up to. Tatum Brown says that her mother has been that for her.

“My mother is my role model,” she stated. “Her drive, ambition, and desire to succeed are what I want to mirror in life. She always encourages me to be the best version of myself. She always says ‘sky’s the limit’. As for my biggest influence, I would have to say it would be a family friend. She started at an entry-level position and decided she wanted more. She worked her way through college. During school, she maintained a full-time job, as well as being a full-time mother and running a side business. She will be graduating with honors this December. Seeing her be able to be successful despite having other distractions shows me that anything is possible.”

Tatum, a senior, is a multi-sport athlete at Fort Supply High School. She plays the post position for the Lady Bulldogs basketball team and pitcher and first base for the slowpitch softball team. She is also a part of the cross country team. 

Competing in multiple sports also means a lot of practice and preparation year around. And though she agrees that hard work is important, she said you have to be able to deal with different situations.

“It has taken hard work, determination, and learning to persevere despite difficulty and failures,” she said. “Also having to learn to be comfortable in an uncomfortable situation.”

Along with sports, Tatum is also involved with various groups around campus.

“I have participated in drama club, student council, where I have held an office the last four years,” she said. “I am also in the FFA in which I have also held an officer position for three years and am currently the president of our chapter. I am also on the academic team, yearbook, National Honor Society, Student Leadership Conference, Health Occupations Students of America, the National Society of High School Scholars, and an AAU basketball league, 3T.”
