Top 100 Football Spotlight – Balko-Forgan’s Jordan McGowan – Presented by Balko-Forgan Booster Club

Coming into the 2022 season, anyone who plays Balko-Forgan will tell you, Jordan McGowan is an electric player and an elite athlete.

Last season he scorched opponents for 1,394 yards on 52 receptions and rushed the ball 28 times for 293 yards. He scored 24 touchdowns through the air and rushed for four more. On special teams McGowan had four touchdowns on returns and made 130 tackles on defense with four interceptions and one fumble recovery.

It’s easy to see why McGowan is a VYPE Top 100 selectee and someone who has a legitimate shot at being named Mr. Football Oklahoma.

Coach Jake Regier said of McGowan, “Jordan has only played one year of high school football, and quickly became one of the most dominant players on the field on both sides of the ball. It is an absolute blessing to coach and be around Jordan every day.”

McGowan said he loves being part of this team.

“I love this team because we always come together as one. I love my teammates because they always have my back and I’ve had some of my best memories with this team,” McGowan said.

On the field, McGowan said he’s not much into trash talking, but there is one game on the schedule he is excited to play.

“Not much of a trash talker unless an opponent comes at me first or is doing a little too much,” McGowan said. “Our biggest rivel is the Laverne Tigers. I love to compete and the atmosphere plus all the hype that leads up to a big game.”

Before every game McGowan said he likes to grab a nap after school, but the thing he said he will miss most after he graduates is the feeling of gameday and what it’s like that day at school.

“This is my last year and what I will miss most is walking the halls on game day and all the pep assemblies,” said McGowan.

Growing up in Kansas meant McGowan wasn’t around the OU vs. OSU debate, so he really doesn’t have a preference.

“I grew up in Kansas and wasn’t around all the bedlam rivalry. I just love to watch good football,” said McGowan.

In the classroom, McGowan said his favorite subject is English and his favorite teacher is Mr. Nichols. In college, he would like to study Sports Medicine.

McGowan is all about family and he loves spending time with them. From playing golf, to fishing and duck hunting, finding family time is always a top priority. To learn more about his relationship with his family, we asked McGowan who would he have take an exam for him, who would he drive across the country with and who does he want with him during a zombie apocalypse.

“My Aunt Christi Starr for exams, my brother Kobe McGowan for the road trip and definitely my cousin Draven Start to fight the zombies!”
