Enid Area Mom of the Month: Jan Griffin – Presented By The Med Spa At Enid Live Well

Hennessey residents for 27 years, Jan Griffin and her husband, Patrick, are parents of three and grandparents of two. Her older son Zach is a doctor in Tulsa where he lives with his wife, Sarah, and children, Emilia, and Sam. In high school Zach was involved in football basketball, track FFA, and media. Her daughter Callyn lives and works in Stillwater. She was active in volleyball, cheer, the basketball team manager, vocal music, and speech and debate. Her youngest son Cameron is a very active junior at Hennessey High School. Cam plays defensive end and offensive tackle for the football team and is involved in basketball, wrestling, baseball, and vocal music.

Jan’s journey as a football mom began in 2003 when Zach was in 5 th grade and will culminate next year when Cam is a senior. She explained, “Cam started football in 3 rd grade. Between the years the boys played, and Callyn was a cheerleader, I have been to so many games that I have lost count!”

A former high school English teacher, Jan has been a stay-at-home mom for 20 years. “Being a stay-at-home mom has allowed me to step up and be involved in ways some moms cannot.”

Jan appreciates the support she receives from her husband as well. “He volunteers even more than I do! I think Patrick and I make a pretty good team. We both have servants’ hearts and try to model that for our children.”

Jan is quick to credit others, citing the help she receives from parents and community members. “Hennessey is an amazing town! Parents here give sacrificially of their time and resources to get things done. But moreover, people who don’t have kids in the activities still help. They cook team meals, help with fundraisers, take pictures, man the chain gang, and more. Some have even bought uniforms and equipment for the teams. It’s wonderful! Having many volunteers is a recipe for success. I certainly couldn’t do what I do without the numerous people who are willing to help.”

Jan also praised the administration, teachers, coaches, and staff at Hennessey, noting that they are a visible presence at the activities. “We looked at other schools and communities when we moved from out-of-state. I’m extremely pleased that we landed in Hennessey.”
