Sherri Tune has been with the Fargo-Gage school district for 37 years. She currently serves the district as the high school principal, but also wears a lot of other hats. She drives a school bus route, sponsors the BETA club, helps serve breakfast and lunch every day, is the announcer at home basketball games, helps students make bierox and cinnamon rolls for every home game, and is the enrollment and testing coordinator.

History teacher Keith Graff says that there are not a lot of administrators like Mrs. Tune.

“Mrs. Tune is a servant leader,” Graff said. “She can be found doing everything from covering the classes of her teachers, serving meals in the cafeteria, driving bus routes, and running the scoreboard at basketball games. Not many administrators do things like this.”

Jennifer Allenbach, a special education teacher at Fargo-Gage, knows that Tune expects the best from her teachers and students, but she expects the same of herself. 

“She has high expectations and goals for students and teachers alike,” Allenbach said. “But she has far higher standards she sets for herself. She is always willing to lend an ear to a student or teacher and is a great advocate for both.” 

The job that Tune does at Fargo-Gage is noticed by more than just her teachers, staff, and students by making it a desirable destination for others.

“I love Mrs. Tune,” said counselor Shelley Cook. “She is one of the best things about Fargo-Gage Schools and one of the main reasons that I took the job as the school counselor here. She is easy-going, supportive, and always has a smile on her face.”

English teacher Carriann Cook echoes her colleague’s sentiments.

“This was my first year at Fargo-Gage High School, and it has been a dream job for me,” Cook said. “I thank God every day for a boss like Sherri who doesn’t just see her position here as a job. This school means the world to her. She has built an absolutely positive environment to work in and never once this year have I felt stressed. This school would not be the same without her.”

Jeana Day, a math teacher at Fargo-Gage, says that her school is blessed to have someone like Tune leading the high school. 

“Sherri is by far the best principal I have ever worked with,” Day said. “Her love of the students is impressive, and her work ethic is unbelievable.  She works long hours every day and on weekends. Sherri is so supportive of the faculty. Working in a small school with Mrs. Tune is a dream come true.”
