OFFENSE
First-year head coach of the Deer Creek-Lamont Eagles, James Jones, is excited to get the season underway. “We have a hard-work- ing group eager to im- prove,” Jones said. Coming off a tough season in 2021, Jones is eager about the new opportunity, and will look to rebuild an offensive scheme around his players skill sets so that they’re in the best possible position to thrive. Ben Lowery (Jr.), Dane Schneeberger (Jr.) and Laker Ingram (So.) all return as starters. Jones and his staff have been using the offseason to prepare and look forward to fall camp and competing in 2022.
DEFENSE
Similar to offense, Jones and his coaching staff will look to put their players in the best position to succeed on defense. “We’re young,” Jones said. “Two-thirds of our team is underclassmen. I look for the veterans to lead the way and the young guys to grow up quickly.” Clay Smith (Sr.) and Drake Prince (Sr.) will take on that responsibility as veterans on the defensive unit. The Eagles look to rebound this year and will try to make some noise in Class C.
