Enid’s Jake Kennedy
Enid defeated Bixby, 1-0, Tuesday, April 11 in Bixby to complete a two-game sweep of the Spartans.
The Plainsmen, who improved to 16-7 overall and 8-2 in District 6A-4 under head coach Brad Gore, got the game’s lone run in the first inning when Garrett Shull crossed home plate on an error. Shull reached on an error before stealing second and third bases.
Enid closed with two hits – a one-out double during the opening frame from designated hitter Jake Kennedy and a two-out single by right fielder Dax Goeke in the second.
Enid pitchers Bennett Percival and Dallis Goodpasture combined on the shutout. In a starting role, Percival tossed five scoreless innings and earned the win. The right-hander allowed three hits, struck out three and walked a pair of batters.
Goodpasture picked up the save. In two scoreless innings of work, he did not allow a hit and issued one walk.
Enid, who also blanked the Spartans, 1-0, on Monday, April 10, returns to action Monday, April 17 when it visits Bartlesville. The Plainsmen have won three straight and six of their last seven.
