VYPE: When and how did you first get into playing your sport?

Maddox: I remember watching my older sister play ball and couldn’t wait to play the game myself. My parents got me involved in the little league program and I fell in love with the game.

VYPE: Why are you passionate about your sport?

Maddox: I’m a competitor. I love to play and win in front of our loud hometown crowds.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?

Maddox: Playing on a team has taught me to be disciplined and to be humble.

VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?

Maddox: I love the camaraderie I have with my teammates and coaches. We work hard but have fun doing it.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

Maddox: I’ve been lucky to have so many amazing teammates during my time in Vici. The upperclassmen have taught me so much and helped me be the player I am today. It’s too difficult to pick just one.

VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?

Maddox: I love that the little kids look up to me. I always try to take the time to make them feel special by giving them high fives and hyping them up.

VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?

Maddox: In the words of Coach Kris Webb, “Don’t suck”.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?

Maddox: Mr. Moss, who was my fifth and sixth-grade teacher. He always made learning fun, he cared about us, and always had a story to tell.
