Damon McKinney has always been inspired working with people around him.
McKinney, a Digital Arts and Journalism teacher at Enid High School, is certified in English and teached 9th-12th grades. He got his start in 2011 in Arkansas after working in retail.
“I have always enjoyed working with others and helping train them to better themselves during my 15 years in retail, which led to teaching,” McKinney said.
McKinney has now been at Enid for over a decade. The bond with faculty has kept him in place.
“I have been with EPS for over 10 years and my favorite part is the people,” he said. “We are like a family at EHS and really support each other.”
McKinney has recently taken on a new role at Enid.
“This year I took on the yearbook, so I was just trying to learn everything that is associated with the publishing side of it” he said. “However; we bought supplies to do a podcast, which is what I am excited to do next year.”
Organizational skills and planning to complete tasks are top priorities for McKinney, who enjoys camping at various lakes during his free time.
“Planning. We talk about the many * different steps to accomplish something and to prepare for their future,” he said.
“By planning, they learn to prioritize and focus on what is important at the moment and limit stress and anxiety.”
