Hennessey’s Ivonne Fraire Athlete Spotlight Presented by Integris Health

Success is something that everyone strives to achieve. No matter what they are working at, it takes more than just showing up to reach where they want to be. Ivonne Fraire is an athlete at Hennessey High School and she says that along with work, it also takes having the right people in your life.

“To be successful, you have to show up and give it your all even when you don’t want to,” she said. “What got me to where I am right now is showing up to summer practices and working hard every single day.” My Coaches have made the biggest impact in my life. They have made me realize anything is possible if you put in the work and effort.”

Fraire is a sophomore and setter on the Eagles volleyball team. Outside of sports, she is also involved in the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America.

Along with her coaches, she has a teammate that she looks up to and is an influence on her life.
“My role model is my teammate, Alondra Portillo,” she said. “She brings positivity to the court everyday and I would like to do the same for the upcoming Hennessey volleyball players. Volleyball is a mentally tough sport to play but having that one person with a consistently positive attitude changes the game.”

Stepping on the court to play in a game is something that makes Ivonne proud. Not because of herself but who she is playing for.
“Anytime I put on our uniforms with ‘Eagles’ written across my chest, I know that I am playing for something bigger than myself,” she said. “Everywhere we go, we are a direct representation of our coaches, our school and our community and being able to represent them in a positive light is my way of giving back to what has given me so much.”

When she is not playing or practicing volleyball, Fraire enjoys being on her social media.

“My favorite person that I follow on social media is Chris Garcia,” she said. “He has been supporting me since day one and worked with me to be the best setter I could be.”
