GIRLS
Coach: Ryan Donaldson
22-23 Record: 16-10
Graduation has taken its toll on the Lady Wildcats, but coach Ryan Donaldson is optimistic about the team he has coming back. “Graduated five senior starters last year. Looking forward to girls stepping up and filling roles. Have an athletic bunch that work hard and should make the transition smooth,” said Donaldson. Madison Munden (5-7, Sr.) will start at forward with fellow senior Anna Franke (5-7, Sr.) at guard. Coach Donaldson said he expects the two seniors to have big years.
Munden is a multi-sport athlete with an ultra-competitive nature. Kenzi Kramer (5-7, Jr.), Ali Mier (5-8, Jr.), and Jennifer Groves (5-10, Jr.) most likely round out the starting five coming into the season. Mier will play center with Groves at forward and Kramer at guard. Mier is a solid rebounder and plays an unselfish style of ball. Pushing the starters are Rylee Thomas (5-4, Jr.) and Tessa Navratil (5-1, Fr.). Both will likely see quality minutes from day one according to coach Donaldson. Navratil brings elite speed and has developed into a solid shooter. Also fighting for time in the rotation are Morgan Knott (5-6, Fr.), Kymber Cook (5-7, So.), River Harrington (5-5, So.), Ali Griffin (5-6, So.), and Alyssa Fowble (5-6, So.). Overall, the team has the players to be competitive, but younger players will need to step up and fill in some gaps as the season moves forward. Look for coach Donaldson to have this team playing at the level they have come to expect at Covington-Douglas.
