Waukomis basketball player Reed Hellman recently spoke with VYPE about his life.
VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?
My personal goals is to help my team have a winning record, make an all tournament team and win a championship this year.
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
The most fun I had last year was going to play at the Oklahoma City thunder court last year vs Timberlake.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?
Probably Ms. Hicks because I like math and she makes it fun.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
Eating Drummond in double OT to win the Jr High Skeltur Tournament.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
The teammate that has impacted me the most is Elisandro Rivera. Despite the challenges he faces, he’s always in a good mood and ready to hoop. It’s inspiring to see his excitement when he hits a shot to end the game.
VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
How well balanced out team is this year. The guards are really good at getting the posts the ball and understanding when they are open.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?
I would be going to Red River New Mexico. I would take my family and the Helbergs.
VYPE: If we gave you $500 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you spend it on?
I would take my family somewhere fun.
VYPE: Do you participate in any community service projects?
I help with the Welcome Table feeding families in need with my church youth group.
VYPE: What Clubs or Campus groups are you involved with and why?
