Texhoma High School senior Jacqueline Berry is a multisport athlete, participating in fast pitch softball, basketball, and track. In softball, Jacqueline is a center fielder and pitcher. In basketball she is a guard/small forward. While in track, Jacqueline runs the 100m hurdles, 300m hurdles, sprint relay, and mile relay. Jacqueline could be a sports veteran, having played in fast pitch softball, basketball, and track for 10 years in each sport.
When asked what motivates her, Jacqueline stated, “My mentality is to win at all costs; this is what motivates me every day to be better while giving the glory to God.”
Faith, family, and a pro-athlete are Jacqueline’s role models. “My first role model is Jesus, for his incredible love for others and standing up for what he believes in. My parents and my little brother, Tag, are some of my role models because of their no-quit attitudes. Micheal Jordan is another huge role model for me because of how hard he worked to succeed”
While attending school, most students have a favorite teacher. For Jacqueline she attributes her success to more than one. Jacqueline stated, “Growing up in Texhoma, I have been blessed with a faculty that is so supportive and kind, so it is very hard to pick one! A few that have helped me in my high school career are Mr. Crawford for his humor, Mr. Cooksey for preparing me for the real world, Mrs. Berry and Mrs. Skelton for always being there when I need to talk, and my school counselor, Coach T for helping me in more ways than one!”
In addition to being a multi-sport athlete at Texhoma High School, she also participates in other activities. Jacqueline explained, “I am involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the National Honor Society, Pep club, and 4-H stock showing and showing pigs. I am also involved with Platinum WTX Basketball and Handle Hoops. “
After graduating from Texhoma High School, Jacqueline plans on pursuing higher education. “After going on several official visits, Hardin-Simmons University in Abeline, TX has offered me a dual commitment to play basketball and run track. I plan to attend there in the fall while competing and studying sports marketing and media. “
