The Fellowship of Christian Athletes organization is one that has chapters at many high schools and allows students to gather together to spend time with others that believe similarly to them.
Chisholm’s Cooper Brinkley is part of the group at his school and he says that he is glad to be a part of a group that allows him to share his faith.
“I decided to join FCA because I feel like it is a great way to share your faith and share the word of God in your school. The group has had a big impact on me and it is great to have a group of likeminded people with you at school every day.”
Cooper is a senior at Chisholm High School, where he plays football and baseball for the Longhorns. Throughout his time as a member of the FCA, he has had a lot of experiences that have really had an impact on him and helped encourage him.
“I think my favorite memory of FCA so far has been doing See You At The Pole every year. It is always great to see so many people there, learning about the Lord, praying, and reading scripture. FCA and my relationship with Christ has impacted my life by Christ giving me guidance for my life.”
Throughout his life, Brinkley has had people that have influenced him and helped shape him into the person that he is today. But he says that there are some very important people that he is truly thankful for.
“Some of my biggest role models are my parents,” he said. “They are a good representation of hard work and loving everyone you come in contact with.”
Wearing the Longhorn uniform when he competes is special to Cooper and something he is proud to do.
“It means everything, because Chisholm is not a town, the community is like no other. Without the Chisholm community and parents our school would not be where it is today.”
