Seiling

Seiling’s Eric Mojica – Athlete Spotlight Presented by Seiling Auto Supply

Seiling High School junior Eric Mojica takes it seriously anytime he wears Wildcat gold.

“Representing your school and community when you play means showing off the values and vibe of both,” Mojica said. “You gotta bring respect, sportsmanship and top-notch skills whether you’re on the field, court or wherever you play.”

It’s Mojica’s second year playing baseball for Seiling. He also plays football, is on the powerlifting team and is in band.

“This is my second year playing baseball, and I’m enjoying playing with my team playing at the games,” the junior left fielder said.

He hit a double in an at-bat during his first varsity game. Picking up a sport in high school requires “just a lot of work and dedication,” but it’s a job Mojica is prepared for.

Mojica draws inspiration from his teammates and “probably all of the coaches I’ve had.”

“One of my main role models is one of the seniors, Kaden Manuel, and the reason why is he is just so inspiring and puts effort into every sport he does,” Mojica said.

Mojica’s younger teammates have left an impression on him, too: “A sophomore that’s named Jacob Hunter, ‘cause he taught me a lot about baseball.”

Mojica’s favorite team to play is Laverne, Seiling’s school rival.
