Chisholm’s Easton John – Basbeball Spotlight – Presented by Security National Bank

Success is something that everyone strives to achieve, no matter what field they are in. As a high school athlete, Easton John knows what it takes to be his best and he says it is more than just what he can do on his own.

“It takes a lot to be successful,” he said. “Using the core values that we have set up with our program has helped me embrace what being a longhorn means.”

Easton is a junior at Chisholm High School, where he is a member of the football and baseball teams. Outside of sports, he is also a part of the Student Council and the National Honor Society.

His coaches and teammates have also played a role in John’s development as an athlete and he says that he is where he is today because of them.

“My coaches push me to be my best and my teammates’ will to win,” he said. “They are my biggest influences. They have changed my work ethic tremendously and have helped me to excel. The teammate that I enjoy working with the most is Kelson Hamilton. We both push ourselves to be the best.”

In the classroom, John has learned from a lot of teachers, but he has one that has made a solid impact on him.

“Brett Barnes would have to be my favorite teacher,” he said. “He was my eighth grade science teacher, and even though he was our principal he still gave his best as our teacher.”

Throughout his career, there have been numerous moments that Easton has enjoyed. He adds that any win against a certain school is always a great memory.

“I think my highlight moment so far has been hitting a home run in my first at bat of the season,” he stated. “Out of all of the teams we play, Hennessey is probably my favorite to beat because they are our biggest rivals.”

The head baseball coach at Chisholm, Riley Thompson, knows that along with being a solid baseball player, Easton is also an outstanding teammate.

“Easton is a guy that you can count on,” Thompson said. “He is very high character, never have to worry about him doing the right thing. He is not only a leader on our baseball team, but he is a great leader at our school. He is the type of kid that doesn’t back away from any challenge.”
