Loyalty is an honorable trait that not everyone has. It requires a lot in order to be a loyal person, where you are talking about loyalty to your family, employer, or something else. Wayne Simspon is retiring from teaching at Chisholm Public Schools after forty years of dedicated service.

Simpson is the Agriculture Education teacher to students in grades eighth through twelfth. He says that he decided to become an educator and was highly influenced by some of his family members.

“As a student, I was active in Ag in high school,” Wayne said. “My dad and both Grandmas were educators and I decided that was what I wanted to do.”

Chisholm High School Assistant Principal Kimes Gilbert knows that Wayne has had a big positive influence on the students at Chisholm.

“Wayne Simpson has made a huge impact on numerous students and faculty members that have come through Chisholm over the years. I have enjoyed seeing how he is able to use his platform to engage students in his classes that might not have a niche anywhere else.”

Throughout his teaching career, Simpson has been given numerous pieces of advice, one of which he decided to share.

“You can always outlast a principal or superintendent,” he stated.

As he reflects back on his four decades of diligent service to the school and community, Simpson gives some insight on how he thinks this current generation will fare.

“I think this generation will be fine,” he stated. “I’m sure every decade, old teachers have been negative towards ‘kids these days’. My money is on ‘kids these days’.”

Wayne is father to two children, Randi Simpson and the late Jake Simpson. When asked what he enjoys doing when he is not teaching, Simpson had the perfect response in honor of his upcoming retirement.

“I can answer that better a year from now,” he stated.
