Nik Ramos has had quite a spring.
“It’s been very successful,” the Kremlin Hillsdale High School junior said. “We are currently No. 13 in Class B and will be headed to Stuart to play in regionals. We’ve played some quality opponents down the stretch and the team has shown how formidable and gritty we are in tough situations. As for myself, I’m having a good season so far! I’ve been committed to working hard during the offseason in the gym and cage so it’s nice to see it showing up for the team.”
Ramos, a 171-pound prospect who plays travel ball for Crew Baseball, is one of the most productive players in northwestern Oklahoma. Headed into regionals, he’s batting .600 with 29 RBI, 44 runs and 12 steals with an on-base percentage of .745. He can play in the infield or outfield. He was an All-Conference selection last year and was named a Prep Baseball Report preseason All-State selection before the 2024 season.
His baseball career began with 6U T-Ball and has stretched for 11 years and several transitions.
“I went to Cimarron Montessori School [Enid] throughout elementary and I went to Waller Middle School for sixth and seventh grade. I came to Kremlin in eighth grade,” Ramos said.
Growing up in a small town like Kremlin (population ~250) has afforded Ramos a unique upbringing and high school sporting experience. He also competes in academic bowl and maintains a 4.0 GPA.
“It has been great! I really like how I’m able to connect with my classmates and even friends from other classes much easier than in a big school,” Ramos said. “Waller gave me a good foundation before I transferred but I have definitely enjoyed the closeness we have at Kremlin. We have an awesome group of people who support not only our baseball team, but all sports and activities at Kremlin!”
Ramos’ talent is undeniable, but being focused on the team aspect of the game is equally important to him.
“It always takes all of us to win, but I definitely provide my fair share of contributions both at the plate, where I am consistently in the top of the lineup on offense and behind the plate as our catcher on defense,” Ramos said. “One individual statistic I am proud of is that in 94 plate appearances, I’ve only struck out three times.”
After high school, Ramos is gunning for a college career.
