John Davis is a multi-sport athlete at Hooker High School. In order to be at his best and to reach the goals he has set for himself, he knows that he has to be willing to do whatever it takes to get there.

“To be successful in my sports, it takes working out in the weight room and also training hard in the workouts.”

As a junior at Hooker, Davis is a member of the cross country, football, basketball, and track teams. He says that while he puts in the work and time, it is great to see all of it payoff.

“The thing that motivates me the most is that I want to earn as many All-State honors as possible throughout my high school career. The highlight moment of my career so far has been winning two cross country state championships and a track championship.”

There are people in his life that have helped John become the person and the athlete that he is today. He says that he is thankful for these people and would not be where he is without them.

“The biggest influences in my life are my dad and my coaches,” he said. “They encourage me to always become better. A teacher that has impacted me is Mr. Davis. He explains lessons and makes it fun and easy to understand.”

As he and his teammates prepare for each game, they are ready to face whoever the opponent on the schedule is. But for Davis, there is one opponent that he enjoys beating the most.

“That would have to be Texhoma,” he stated. “They have been our rivals for a long time.”

When he puts on the Bulldog’s uniform on game day, John knows that he is playing for more than just himself.

“It means representing past generations that have gone through the program and preparing future generations.”
