Future senior Cristen Bosch is ready for summer, but excited to be entering her senior year at Alva High School. Bosch is a member of the varsity golf team and a team manager for the football team. She also spends a lot of time as a member of the FFA chapter at Alva. 

“I started playing golf my freshman year because some of my friends were in it and I wanted to try something new,” said Bosch. “This season was very sandy, but still a lot better scores than the year before.”

Bosch first got involved in FFA and the 4-H Club when she was very young. 

“I started showing sheep through 4-H when I was in fifth grade, so I always knew I wanted to join as soon as I got to eighth grade,” said Bosch. “I raise and show sheep, livestock judge, I am on the officer team, and I attend meetings, camps, conferences, and conventions.” 

Like many of her peers, there are many things Bosch enjoys about being part of the FFA. 

“I have enjoyed being able to try new things and get out of my comfort zone, and make life-long friendships,” said Bosch. 

Looking ahead, Bosch has plans for life after high school. 

“I plan on attending Connors State College for two years and doing pre-vet and then transferring to Oklahoma State University and earning my DVM,” said Bosch. 

Away from school, Bosch said she enjoys working on are, spending time with her show lambs and friends.
The soon-to-be senior offers this advice to anyone wanting to join FFA.

“I would encourage them to join. You don’t have to live on a farm or show livestock, there is a place for everyone. It gives so many great opportunities, you just have to step out of your comfort zone and try new things.”
