As a student begins their high school years, they know that they will soon need to begin deciding what they want to do upon graduation. Northwest Technology Center gives students the opportunity to get a head start on their future by offering numerous programs.
Kylie Adair is a sophomore at Alva High School and she is also in the Digital Design program at the Alva campus of Northwest Tech. She chose this program because of how she feels it will help her down the road.
“I decided to take this program because it gives me experience with Photoshop and has helped me become more familiar with computers which I believe will definitely help me in the future,” she said. “I think taking classes at Tech prepares me for the future by offering different programs specifically targeted at the career I want to do in the future and can help get a more hands-on experience before going to college.”
Adair first heard about the programs offered by Northwest Tech when she was in eighth grade when her class took a tour. She says that anyone that is unsure of whether or not to attend, should give it a shot.
“Something I would say to someone interested in taking a class at the VoTech is to go for it,” she stated. “It gives you different looks at things you could potentially be doing in your future and it gives you more opportunities to explore.”
At Alva, Kylie is a member of the cross country, basketball, golf, and track teams. She is also involved in the Student Council, Superintendents Leader Class at Northwest Technology Center, Key Club, and she is a part of the First Baptist Church of Alva’s youth group.
Throughout her career, Adair has enjoyed a lot of memorable moments during her sports, but she has one that stands out as her favorite.
“My most memorable moment in sports so far was my freshman year in the area consolation championship,” she said. “We beat Luther to make it to state after losing to them previously in the regional championship.”
In the future, Kylie wants to graduate college and continue to medical school to become a Physician’s Assistant.
