Johnnie Burton is a junior at Canton High School where he plays football and participates in track. Burton is looking forward to the end of the school year and is ready to start his senior season in the fall. Burton also attends classes at Northwest Technology Center taking automotive technology courses.
“The reason I chose the automotive course was because I wanted to learn more about vehicles and how to fix them,” said Burton.
As a student at NW Tech, Burton said the best part of being a student are the people you meet.
“I’ve enjoyed getting to know new people,” said Burton. “NW Tech is preparing us for our futures by training me to be more independent and professional.”
With another year of high school to go, Burton said he is looking forward to having another year under his belt at NW Tech. His future plans include going to college and working towards becoming a mechanical engineer.
His advice to anyone considering NW Tech as an option to further their education is simple.
“Do it,” said Burton. “It can help you achieve your goals after high school.”
When he’s not on the football field or working on his homework, you can usually find Burton with family at a local lake fishing.
