Fairview’s Teagyn Baker – Athlete Spotlight – Presented By Northwest Technology Center

Some students attend a technology school to help get a headstart on their post-high school career.

Other students, like Teagyn Baker, who attends Northwest Technology Center in Fairview, use it as a tool to help narrow down their choice.

“I first heard about tech through the tours they gave us throughout the years,” she said. “I wanted to go to tech to help me decide on which career I would like to pursue.”

Baker is enrolled in the BioMed program and she said that the program is helping her to prepare for the next step.

“I was interested in going into the medical field and when I toured this class it seemed very geared toward that,” Baker said. “Tech, and specifically my teacher, has taught me to always try my best and if you fail get back up and do it again. Once I am done with high school, I plan to attend Southwestern Oklahoma State University and get my degree in Occupational Therapy.”

Baker is a senior at Fairview High School, where she is a member of the basketball and track teams. She is also involved in the Future Farmers of America and Health Occupations Students of America.

Sports have been a part of Teagyn’s life for quite a while and she says that she has had some great experiences while competing.

“I’ve always been competitive since I was little,” she said. “But by far my favorite part would be the team aspect of being able to compete. The most memorable moment in my sports career would be being able to be a role model this year for all my teammates and making a connection with every single one of them.”

There have been some impactful people that have been in Teagyn’s life, but she says that there are two that have had the most impact.

“Two of my biggest role models would have to be my siblings,” she said. “Being only four years younger than my sister, I’ve gotten to learn a lot about life and my little brother has taught me to never give up.”
