WAYNOKA RAILROADERS
Coach: JOHN BARNES
13-1
OFFENSE
New head coach John Barnes takes over a program that finished runner-up last season with a record of 13-1. Some coaches might stay away from the opportunity, but coach Barnes is excited to take over the program and is optimistic the team can continue their winning ways. “Waynoka finished as the state runners up last season and we look to replace some production, especially in the offensive and defensive backfield this upcoming season. We bring back a good group up front but will need to find someone to fill a right guard spot on offense and will be young in some spots on defense. Overall, our success will be determined by how quickly some of our young players come along and how hard we work over the summer. We can be a special group if the pieces come together,” said Barnes. Five starters on offense are back including Max Porter (6-3, 240, Jr.) at guard. Porter is the key to the offense, but fullback Landon Seiger (5-10, 192, Jr.) will get most of the accolades. Seiger is a dynamic player who has the passion and drive to be one of the best in the state. Daycen Cunningham (5-9, 170, Jr.) will start at quarterback in the double-tight, two-back offense. Lane Inman (5-8, 180, Sr.) will handle a lot of the running back duties while Jake Hagelberg (6-5, 220, Sr.) will see time at center and tight end. Xhalin Flores (6-0, 260, Jr.) is another offensive lineman who will start at guard and play some center.
DEFENSE
Seiger will lead the defense from his linebacker spot with Brac Long (5-7, 210, So.) stepping up to secure a starting spot in the 3-2 scheme. Stopping the run is a priority and nose guard Michael Solomon (5-9, 215, Sr.) is up for the challenge. Cunningham and Inman are two corners who can play safety and linebacker respectively. Coach Barnes expects his defense to play a physical brand of football and stay disciplined with their assignments. Newcomer Korbin Ferguson (Fr.) has a chance to become a special player for the Railroaders.
