Waynoka, Oklahoma is a small town in western Oklahoma. Waynoka, settled in 1887, is the home city to the Little Sahara Sand Dunes State Park. Waynoka is a Cherokee word meaning “sweet water”.
Alexis Truesdale is an 18-year old senior at Waynoka High School. She is very active in her school. She played basketball and slow pitch softball. She is FCCLA President, in National Honor Society and in FCA.
In fact, Lexi got FCA started two years ago at the high school with the help of girls’ basketball coach, Isaac Sanders. Coach Sanders told me Alexis was the catalyst to get FCA going and key to keeping it going. He called Lexi talented, passionate and willing to share God. He talked about her big heart.
Alexis wants to go to college. Oral Roberts University was mentioned as a possible site. But first, Alexis wants to attend Youth With A Mission (YWAM) in Tyler, Texas. Upon a calling from God, Alexis will receive disciple training in June through November. She will then go on a two month mission trip. Mission work is a passion of hers.
I asked Lexi what advice she might give a young person entering high school. She thought and replied never do the bare minimum. Go the extra mile and work hard. Always keep God by your side to walk through life.
What does Alexis do in her free time? She got a Ukulele five years ago and then started playing guitar. She likes music and spending time with her best friend, Breya. Lexi doesn’t think much about success. She just wants to please God.
What an exciting time for Alexis Truesdale! Graduation from high school and then training with Youth With A Mission. From the sand dunes of Waynoka, Oklahoma to the rose capital of the United States, Tyler, Texas.
