Hennessey’s Seth Simunek – Athlete Spotlight – Presented By Integris Henessey

By Derrick Smith

Seth Simunek is a junior at Hennessey High School. He is a multi-sport athlete for the Eagles playing football, basketball, and baseball. He has done a lot of work in order to get where he is and become the athlete that he wants to be.

“I have always been consistent and dependable,” he said. “A good work ethic has been important as well as never giving up even when things get difficult. I try to make sure that I stay motivated and keep putting in the work. The thing that motivates me the most is my friends and family always telling me I can do better and telling me I can be great and can always get better.”

As an athlete and as a person, Seth has a couple of people that he looks up to and that have helped him become who he is.

“My dad, Rob Simunek, has been the biggest role model in my life,” he said. “I hear all the great thighs he did in high school, and I just want to be like him or even better. Someone that has helped me sports-wise would have to be my teammate, Weston Smith. We always compete to be the best player on the team.”

Following in his father’s footsteps is something that has made Seth proud, but even more, he took his father’s place in the Hennessey football record books.

“The highlight of my career would have to be being put in the record books for the school as a junior. I caught eight touchdown passes during my junior year and my dad held the previous record with seven touchdown receptions.”

Throughout his sports seasons, Seth and his teammates compete against a few different teams. But out of them all, he says that there is one team that the victories are a little bit sweeter against.
“The team I enjoy beating the most is Chisholm,” Simunek said. “And it’s because they are our rival and we have always been in competition with them.”
