OFFENSE
After a challenging 2022 season, coach Gilbert is excited and optimistic for the 2023 football season. In terms of an outlook for this season, he stated, “We return a lot of experience on both sides of the ball. We will be running the same offensive and defensive systems for two years in row for the first time since 2021. Our players have been working hard throughout the off-season. We are excited about the product we will be putting on the field this season.” There are ninereturning offensive starters for the Chisholm Longhorns this season. The top six offensive starters include tight end Easton John (6-1, 200, Jr), running back Braden Flanagan (6-0, 160, Sr.), wide receiver Jackson Caddell (5-10, 170, Sr.), offensive lineman Cooper Brinkley (6-4, 230, Sr.), wide receiver Nick Barker (6-1, 150, Sr.), and wide receiver Brandon Taylor (6-0, 160, So.). When asked about his offensive philosophy, coach Gilbert stated, “One word: Spread. We will be in multiple formations and try to keep things simple for us but difficult on a defense.”
DEFENSE
There are eight returning defensive starters for the Chisholm Longhorns this season. The top six defensive starters include linebacker Braden Tennell (6-0, 210, So.) defensive lineman Trevor Haws (5-11, 175, Jr.), linebacker Easton John (6-1, 200, Jr.), and Karsen Hennigh (6-2, 160, Jr.). Patrolling the secondary will be Nolan Deterding (5-11, 160, Jr.) and Stephen Busa (5-10, 155, Sr.). Assistant coaches for the Chisholm Longhorns include Jayden Dobbs, Beaux Biggers, Reece Gilbert, Mike Fields, and Luke Balenti.
