Chisholm’s Aaron Sheik – Teacher Spotlight Presented by Rick’s Pharmacy

Teaching is a profession where information and ideas are shared among others in the same job. Whether it be ideas for a lesson, better classroom management, or just some advice, teachers do a great job of sharing this info with their peers. Aaron Sheik has been given different pieces of advice, but says that there is one that stands out.

“I think the best advice given to me is to set the standards high so that there is growth among all of the students,” he said.

Sheik teaches math at Chisholm High School, where he has been a teacher for two years. Before coming to Chisholm, Aaron earned experience at Peabody Burns ISD in Kansas, Fargo, Arnett, and Chisholm in Oklahoma, and Follett, Texas.

The decision to become a teacher was an easy one for Aaron. He wanted to make an impact on the future generations both educationally and otherwise.

“I have taught since I became an educator to be a positive and Godly example for the current youth,” Sheik said. “I enjoy reaching students academically and also doing my best to be a positive Godly influence.”

When he was a student in the classroom, Sheik had a number of teachers that were impactful to his life and helped shape him into the person that he is today. He says that the biggest influence that they had was not necessarily tied to the textbooks.

“The teachers that influenced my life were the ones that truly cared and showed empathy,” Aaron stated.

Though he enjoys teaching, Aaron also enjoys doing things away from school.

“Outside of teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family,” he said. “My wife Alicia is the Assistant Principal at Chisholm Elementary School. And we have two kids, Alexa and Andrew. I also enjoy being outdoors hunting, fishing, and riding my motorcycle.”
