Nick Deterding has graduated from Chisholm High School. He left his mark at Chisholm High School both on and off the baseball field.
Nick wants to play baseball at the next level. His journey may begin at the Dallas-Fort Worth Post Grad Program in Grapevine, Texas. He will attend the program playing 30 fall baseball games and 30 spring baseball games while taking 18 hours of college credits. He will look to be recruited after a year at the baseball academy. He comes by his love of baseball through his grandfather who was drafted out of high school by the New York Yankees.
Chisholm baseball coach Bobby Shoate talked about Nick being a great kid and excelling at leading his team in developing a new culture under the second year head coach. He played outfield and pitched and was one of the top two pitchers the last two years. He hit .440 his senior season. Deterding was named to the Great Plains All-Conference baseball team.
Nick’s best high school memory was making it back to the Class 3A baseball regionals with coach Shoate. He talked about is favorite class being math but his best subject was English. After baseball, Nick wants to be a dental hygienist or take over his dad’s business.
He has this advice for younger people
“Be yourself and don’t let small things deter you. Don’t stop chasing your dream.”
