Chisholm’s Reagan Brinkley – Basketball Spotlight – Presented by Security National Bank

As a freshman at Chisholm High School, Reagan Brinkley competes in basketball and golf for the Longhorns. Playing multiple sports requires dedication and a lot of effort from an athlete if they want to succeed.

“There is a lot of hard work and dedication in order to be successful,” she said. “I have also had to push myself in the weight room.”

Outside of her sports, Reagan is also a member of the Chisholm Student Council and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Along with all the personal work and time that Brinkley has invested, she says that she has also had an outstanding group of people that have played an important role in her life.

“I feel like all of my teammates really keep me motivated, but one big one would have to be  Miranda Clark. She had a serious knee injury last year and has worked hard to get back,” Brinkley stated. “My brother Cooper is someone that I look up to. He is a good example of a Christian athlete. And one of my favorite teachers is Jaicee Stinson, who is a positive role model that not only cares about me as a player, but more importantly as a person.”

The teammates that she competes alongside on game day also play a huge role in Reagan’s success.
“I think the teammates I like to go against at practice are Emma Kate Kruska and Hailey Hampton,” she said. “They push me every day to prepare me for game days. I feel like Emma John is one of our underrated players. She is always positive and an encouraging teammate.”

When she puts on her Longhorn uniform, Reagan is reminded that when she competes, she is doing it for more than just herself.

“Being able to represent my school pushes me to go harder because I know I am playing for something bigger than myself.”

There are a number of honors that athletes can achieve throughout their high school career, but Brinkley says there was one that was really special to her.

“The highlight moment of my career would have to be when I was named Iron Woman as an incoming freshman.”
