Coaching is a profession that is not cut out for everyone. Along with enjoying sports, coaches also have an impact on their athletes and help them grow as people. Tyler Dunham says that is something that he really enjoys about coaching.
“Helping student athletes grow to be good stewards of the community and preparing them for life after high school through sport would have to be my favorite part about being a coach.”
Tyler is the head boys and girls golf coach at Duncan High School. He has had people throughout his coaching career that have had an impact and helped shape him into the coach he is today.
“My high school basketball coach my senior year was very influential on my life on the court, but more importantly taught me a lot of important things off the court to set me up for success at the next level and with life in general,” Dunham said. “I have enjoyed watching guys like Bill Self continue his program at the level he does but my biggest influence was my eight and a half years in the United States Navy. I was fortunate to have some very good leaders that taught me how to be a leader and encourage others to step into leadership roles. It has been one of the highlights of my short coaching career to foster the necessary traits to make future leaders for our community and society as a whole.”
