Covington-Douglas High School’s Anna Franke is a cheer captain this year and a three-sport student-athlete. Franke is a member of the FFA chapter as well.
“I first got involved in FFA when I joined the eighth-grade intro to agriculture class. My love for showing animals began way earlier at age three, when I participated in my first pig show,” said Franke.
The senior said FFA has been a great experience and she said her parents have played an important role in her life.
“The best part about being in FFA is being able to interact and meet new people from across the state that have now became some of my closest friends. My parents were my number one encouragement to get involved and stay active in showing,” said Franke.
As a member, Franke said she has been involved in showing livestock, public speaking and livestock judging.
“My greatest passion is showing pigs. I’ve shown them all across the United States. Everyone who is interested in FFA should get involved! There are countless opportunities that will prepare you for your future in life,” said Franke.
The cheer captain also plays basketball and runs track. As captain of the cheer team, Franke said learning from her coach and interacting with her teammates is what she loves the most.
“I love how we all push each other to try to make each other better every day,” said Franke.
The senior has a plan for life after graduation. “After graduation I plan to attend Oklahoma State University and pursue a degree in animal science to prepare me to study animal Chiropractic,” said Franke.
