Hayden Willard was involved in the 4H-Club as a youth before learning more about FFA. Once he was of age, Willard made the decision to join his local FFA chapter, and never looked back.
“I first got involved in FFA my 8th grade year with creed speaking contests and shooting sports. I started out in 4H and enjoyed it and heard about FFA so I joined my chapter,” said Willard.
As a sophomore, Willard said he enjoys many of the activities FFA has to offer.
Despite not showing livestock, Willard said there are plenty of things to involved yourself in.
“The thing I enjoy most about being in FFA is meeting new people all the time and making friends. I am involved in livestock judging, shooting sports, public speaking, and green hand quizzes.”
Willard is a member of the football and baseball teams at Covington-Douglas as well as a basketball film tech and a member of the student council.
Being a member of the football and baseball teams require a certain level of dedication that Willard is happy to give.
“I play football, tight end and defensive end, and baseball where I play left field. The
thing I love most about my teammates is that we are a family and that we can all come together and will do whatever it takes to win,” said Willard.
Upon graduating from high school, Willard said he would like to work as a diesel mechanic, until then, he will continue to enjoy playing sport and being part of the FFA family. Willard offered some encouraging words to any student curious FFA.
“Don’t be afraid to try new things and be involved in as many things as you want or can be. My favorite memory from this school year was FFA state convention, being will all my friends and making new friends too.”
