Drummond

Drummond’s Kate Spring – Presented by Farm Credit of Enid

It was the eighth grade when Kate Spring of Drummond High School first knew she wanted to join the FFA and it was her father who convinced her it was the right choice.

“My dad was very involved when he was in high school and encouraged me to join,” said Spring.

During her high school career, Spring has accomplished many things with FFA and is looking forward to having a great junior year.

“Over the past four years I have been involved in opening ceremonies, speech contests, meat judging, livestock judging, and state fair projects,” said Spring. “What I’ve enjoyed the most is being able to interact with other students from other schools when I go to events. FFA also gave me confidence to talk and stand in front of people from doing speech contests.”

While Spring does not show animals, she does operate her own cow/calf operation on top of being a member of the basketball and softball teams and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

“I love being around my team because we all want to win and have success. I love making memories with them on and off the court and the support system we all have for each other really helps me want to strive to be better,” said Spring. “I am a junior this year my plans after high school are still uncertain, I would either like to play basketball or softball in college if I got that opportunity. Or attend the University of Oklahoma and study sports medicine.”

Spring offers this advice for anyone interested in the FFA.

“I would tell them to join 100 percent. There are so many different opportunities and contest for everyone.”
