Enid Boys Basketball Team Preview – Presented by Dan Snyder Shelter Insurance

ENID PLAINSMEN

BOYS

Coach: Jonathan Reed

22-23 Record: 11-12

Second year head coach Jonathan Reed was upbeat talking about the Plainsmen basketball program. The team is way ahead of last year and better understands the core values of Plainsmen basketball. Coach Reed stresses mental toughness and discipline! He wants to develop a culture at Enid High that will give players an opportunity to be their best version of themselves on and off the court. Coach Reed has great experience. He played professionally overseas for eleven years and has been the CEO and general manager for the Outlaws since 2021. He shared that it is very difficult to coach at two different levels at the same time. He enjoys coaching high school basketball and developing young talent.

At the same time, he enjoys being the general manager of the Outlaws and working with player development and helping players reach the next level. Coach Reed coaches two sons. One is Tre Davis (6-8, Jr.) and Jonathan Reed (6-2, Jr.). He quickly told me he enjoys coaching his sons but that they never take it home. Blend in Zyere Allen (6-0, Jr.), two seniors Jaryn Porter and Ayden Iverson plus several younger players, and you have a team that will compete in every single game. They had a good, solid summer experience. Football players will join the team after the football playoffs. Coach Reed has good assistants in Dee Whitfield and Abraham Rodriquez (JV coach). Derek Irving is the freshman coach. The Plainsmen will play up-tempoand change offenses and defenses to keep opponents off balance. Enid will play tough defense to create offense and try to get the ball inside to Tre Davis, one of the better players in the state. Coach Reed thinks he can go about ten deep in his bench. Coach Reed is very positive this year and thinks the Plainsmen can make a run in the playoffs, win and advance. The Pacers and Plainsmen will be hosting a tournament in January. It is all starts with the core values of mental toughness and discipline. The Plainsmen will be fun to watch. Get out and enjoy a game. It is a fun way to spend an evening with your family.
