Enid Girls Basketball Team Preview – Presented by Dan Snyder Shelter Insurance

ENID PLAINSMEN

GIRLS

Coach: William Milton

22-23 Record:

EHS Pacer basketball head coach William Milton is upbeat and positive about the Pacer basketball program. In just his second year, the program has over forty high school girls out for the team. He feels he has a solid set of assistant coaches at both the junior high and high school level. He knows that will pay dividends in the future. He thinks his team is underrated. Coach Milton was teaching biology two years ago at Enid High and got some encouragement to seek the Pacer head coaching position. He has 16 years of experience including a stint at NOC-Enid under Scott Morris. Coach Milton and the Pacers won eight games last season.  He thinks that number will increase this season.  Key players returning are sophomores Jasia Malolo (guard) and Kyra Criss (post) plus senior Mary Angel Jibbwa (guard). Coach Milton thinks he can go nine or ten deep on his roster and the starting five may be a bit fluid during the early games.

He thinks three freshmen will see significant playing time this season. He knows the Pacers need to learn how to win. The Pacers like to play fast. Coach Milton likes to call it “poised but aggressive.” They basically play four out and one in, press and try to create offense from their defense. They averaged over eleven steals a game last year. Coach Milton thinks the program is way ahead of last year and credits his assistants for much of that progress. His varsity assistant is Natasha Flynn; his JV assistant is Josh Moulder and his freshman coach is Katlyn Anderson. It will be an interesting year for the Pacers as they blend freshmen talent with older, more experienced players in competitive 6A games. Get out and watch some Pacer basketball!
