The title of ‘wrestling mom’ fits Dana Alvarado perfectly. While she has other roles in her life, she says that this is one that she wears proudly.
“All of our children are wrestlers,” she stated. “We love wrestling. Our oldest, Carlos, who is a senior at Enid High School, is a 2021 wrestling state placer, a junior high state champion, and a 16-and-Under All-American. A sophomore at Enid, Adrian is not far behind him in wrestling the 165 weight class and loves football as well. And third-grader Elayna is just getting started in sports but she jumped right in to try wrestling first.”
Her kids are not the only ones involved in athletics at Enid. Dana is in charge of hospitality rooms and t-shirt sales at the Mid- America Nationals. She is also the wrestling booster club Treasurer. She says that being able to be around the programs is great and she enjoys all the things that come along with it.
“I am very involved in our Enid high wrestling program,” she said. “And I am invested in the long term success of it. I have great parents on my Board, and we do it all from feeding boys and girls, to icing down shoulders and ankles.”
When she is not working with the wrestling program or the athletic department, Alvarado has other things to occupy her time.
“I am an office manager at Hann Plummer CPA Firm where I have worked since 2018,” she stated. “My jobs in the office vary, from customer relations professional to administrative duties to mopping up coffee. If it needs to be done, I can do it. I am a go-getter. I don’t wait for others to initiate hard work. I lead with purpose. My husband and I also operate a Trucking Company together, so we are a very busy family. It’s a tight Ship, but it seems to keep sailing! Lol!! I love my job. I work for two outstanding men, William Hann and Dee Plummer. They push me to be better, and they are always keeping us involved in our Enid community, and I love it.”
