There is someone or some people in our lives that are influential and help shape us into the person that we will become. Whether they are a part of our everyday life or they are someone we watch from a distance, like a celebrity, the impact they make can be huge. Enid’s Ava Jackson has a couple of people that have played that role in her life and she says she would not be where she is today without them.
“I have two people that are role models in my life,” she said. “The first is my older sister, Lauren, who is such a brave leader and hard worker. The other is my teacher Hilary McAlister. She is an amazing example of how to live with and in Christ.”
A senior at Enid High School, Ava is a member of the school’s dance and pom teams. She is also a part of the show choir and she serves as president of the Platinum E Service Club.
Another group that Jackson is a part of is the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Her friends introduced her to it and she is now one of the leaders of the group.
“I had some friends involved who invited me to all the meetings last year,” she recalled. “I wanted to step up and be a part of the process so I joined leadership with Enid FCA. My faith in Christ is an important part of my life. It impacts how I talk to people and how I care for people. It is important to me that I leave an impact on everyone I encounter and that I am kind and empathetic toward everyone.”
Jackson loves dance and enjoys helping to share her passion for it with the younger kids.
“I teach and choreograph for many of the elementary-age kids at Hype Dance Productions under the direction of Melissa Painter and it is one of my favorite things to do.”
