Enid’s Emmaline Holland – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Slater Mechanical

Emmaline Holland is a senior at Enid High School, where she is a member of the cross country and pom teams. Along with her sports, Emmaline is also a member of the school’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes club. While she was worried at first that joining FCA would put too much on her plate, she soon realized that the group was exactly what she was looking for.

“As a sophomore, Camryn Patterson and I were talking about joining FCA,” she recalled. “Honestly, I was hesitant about it because I was not sure I could add more activities to my already busy schedule. Once I looked at all the FCA opportunities we would have to spread the word to our community and classmates, I knew it was an organization for me. I hoped to impact others who do not know God’s love and can find a safe place with Him and within our community.”

Being a part of the group has allowed Emmaline to do things that she may not have had the opportunity to.

“This group has challenged me with taking on tasks that I would have never done before, such as public speaking at Fields of Faith,” she said. “I shared my personal testimony. FCA provides me with biblical motivation from daily challenges of being in high school and living for God. I have also loved being on the Leadership Team and working with others to organize FCA events. I have loved doing fifth quarters with this group because it reaches out to all of our student body and it’s an opportunity to talk and get others involved.”

Along with all the fun activities that she gets to do, Holland is also thankful for how the FCA has helped her spiritually.

“FCA has taught me that my relationship with God is based on my own choices and not others,” she said. “Even in hard times and when faced with adversity, I can rely on God to give me strength. Things will not be perfect, and that is okay, but He will help me through the hard times and He won’t give me anything that I can’t handle.”
