KaDynce Brochu…senior swimmer that is leaving her mark at EHS

By Jay Hoberecht

KaDynce Brochu is a senior at Enid High School and she is a delightful young woman that impressed me with her maturity, poise and answers to my questions.

KaDynce began swimming at about nine years old with the local Water Rockets.  She swam everything.  In the 10-12 age group, KaDynce won the state meet earning the highest point total.  As a sophomore, practicing every day, she began to get really good and built some confidence.  She was having fun and doing well despite her height of 5’3”, not ideal for a swimmer.

KaDynce swims the 500 Free and the 200 Free in meets.  The Pacer swim program won their ninth straight Oklahoma Big 7 Conference Championship this season.  KaDynce won the 500 Free with a time of 5:58.  Plus, she was part of a winning relay team and finished second in the 200 Free and a relay.  EHS swim coach Caroline Theil (Tile) talked about KaDynce’s contributions to the swim program calling her a “role model and an inspiration to her teammates.”  Theil talked about her “work ethnic making a difference in her life.”

KaDynce is an honors student and a member of the National Honor Society.  She is 24th in her class of about 500.  KaDynce plans on attending Rose State and be a dental hygienist.  She is part of the EHS Works program.  It is a job shadowing, internship program.  KaDynce works at Enid Dental Care under Dr. Stephanie Herbst.  Oh, and she puts in about 12-30 hours per week working at TJ Maxx.

Her favorite teacher is Miss Ragel who teaches Honor English.  She thinks Miss Ragel is fun and makes the subject interesting.

I asked KaDynce about what advice she would give a freshman student.  She talked about being bullied in Middle school and that you have to stand up for yourself and pick your friends carefully.

KaDynce Brochu is truly leaving her mark at Enid High School as a student, swimmer, teammate and friend!
