Seth Carlson is a freshman at Enid High School and has always played sports, football, basketball and baseball. His freshman year was limited to football and baseball. This year he started on the kickoff and kick return teams plus some free safety for the Plainsmen football team. He has a role with the Plainsmen baseball team as a utility player that runs well. He has seen action at third, in the outfield and as a designated hitter. Plainsmen head baseball coach Brad Gore talked about Seth being a really good person, very coachable with good potential and a good teammate. His role will increase as he gets bigger, stronger and better.
Seth was familiar with FCA because his sister Kelby Carlson was an FCA leader at Chisholm last year. When Seth transferred to Enid High, he talked to Coach Denim Sullivan about getting FCA going again. The huddle meets monthly at 7:30 pm for games, food, music and a speaker. Seth also participates in an FCA Small Group every other week that includes bible study and a devotional. Seth would like to get some friends together and go to FCA Camp this summer.
I asked Seth about a special memory he has and he immediately talked about the Premier OKC Athletics. A summer team that went to Omaha during the College World Series and reached the Gold semi-finals before the remainder of the event was rained out. It was an experience that helped his confidence and was just plain fun!
Seth has had a great start at Enid High School. He made it clear he would like to see FCA grow and prosper next year. He understands the influence FCA can have on an individual and a team.
