TYLER GAMBLE…helping Enid High FCA grow!
By Jay Hoberecht
Tyler Gamble,18, is a senior at Enid High School. It was clear to me that family is very important to him. He has a Mom and two older brothers and one younger brother.
Tyler plays center on the Plainsmen football team. According to offensive coordinator Rick Luetjen, Gamble has been a “very pleasant surprise” this season. He works hard at his position and studies the game. He has graded out very high each game. Tyler is also involved with FCA and plans to be on the track team throwing the shot or discus.
Two of Gamble’s best memories is beating Edmond Memorial in the playoffs last season and beating Ponca City this year. It is likely that will be the last football game between the Plainsmen and Wildcats in the foreseeable future.
Tyler’s favorite subject is history. His favorite teacher is John Crocker who keeps English interesting and fun to learn. Tyler wants to go to OSU IT and become an electrical engineer following in his grandfather’s steps.
I asked Tyler what advice he would give a ninth grader entering high school. He quickly replied, “Expect the unexpected! Learn to deal with adversity and ask for help. Coaches at EHS are willing to help.”
Tyler began going to FCA last year. He liked the friendships and is now part of this year’s leadership team. FCA brings an opportunity to be with God and encourage others. Tyler said, “It’s great to askmy peers to come to FCA. I was one of the kids asked last year.” FCA sponsor, Dennom Sullivan, assistant football coach, has seen the growth in Gamble since getting involved with FCA. FCA has had an impact on Gamble’s life. Gamble is helping FCA grow at Enid High School! Funny how that works!
