FAITH DEEDS…BEING A LEADER AT GARBER HIGH SCHOOL
By Jay Hoberecht
Writer’s Note. I have written articles for VYPE for almost ten years. I have met many outstanding young men and women along the way. Young people that want to make a difference. Faith Deeds is a young woman that is well-grounded, a great friend and wants to be a positive influence to others. These kinds of young people encourage me about the future.
Faith Deeds, 18, is a senior at Garber High School. She is involved with softball, cheer, President of FCCLA and FCA. She was a VYPE Cheerleader to Watch in 2022. She will be cheering at the Army vs. Navy football game in December. One of the highlights of her high school career was winning the district softball title last year. She loves cheering with her friends.
Faith’s favorite subject is FACS (Family and Consumer Science) and likes Nancy Nelson, who teaches the subject. She talks about all the necessary things you learn and Ms. Nelson is caring, understanding and relates things to the real world.
Faith Deeds likes FCA. She joined the school’s huddle her freshman year. She attends a local church and leads prayers for the softball team. She likes to speak up and share with her friends. FCA sponsor, Chancey Hodges, has a good group of 30-40 kids at meetings. He called them a “committed group”.
Faith wants to go to OSU and become a PA and work in a dental office. She also mentioned being a Youth Pastor.
I ask her about advice she might give a ninth-grade student. After pausing, Faith said, “Surround yourself with people that care, non-judgmental people. Join clubs and get involved. Never be satisfied, challenge yourself.” Faith Deeds has done that! Here’s to a great senior year, Faith!
