Throughout a student’s life, there are numerous people that can be very influential in the person they are and will become. Whether it is someone that they know personally or someone they observe from a distance such as a celebrity, the impact they have can be immeasurable. Kadee Meeker is a senior at Hennessey High School. She says that she has a great support system to help her but there are a couple of people that have played a big part.
“My sister is my biggest role model,” she said. “She always pushes me to be the best that I can be. In the classroom, I think my favorite teacher is Mrs. Parish. She cares about all of her students and she is very passionate about what she teaches.”
Meeker plays basketball and golf for the Eagles. She is also involved in the student council and the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America.
Becoming the athlete she is has taken a lot of hard work from Meeker. She also says you have to be diligent in always getting better.
“In order to be successful, you have to be in the game,” she said. “You can’t have your mind somewhere else and you have to practice at it everyday.”
Whenever she steps on the court to play, Kadee says that the teammates she competes alongside are a group that she is proud to be a part of.
“We have a really solid team,” she said. “I enjoy working with Katie Kennedy because she and I have played together forever and we will always push each other to be better. Also, I think Hannah Swart is one of the more under appreciated members of our team. She is always working hard no matter what role she is playing.”
Wearing the Eagle uniform is something that is very important for Kadee to be able to do.
“It means a lot that my town, my school, and the younger kids all look up to me to help lead our lady Eagles,” she said. “Out of all the teams we play, I would really enjoy beating Cashion. I used to go to school there so that would be fun.”
