Kremlin-Hillsdale’s Pepper Elmore – Track Spotlight – Presented by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home

Pepper Elmore doesn’t want to be good. She wants to be great.

Elmore, a Kremlin-Hillsdale High School junior who has already won two state championships, is chasing all-time greatness.

“I hope to break the state records in the 100, 200 and long jump by my senior year and hopefully make the state tournament in basketball, but most of all have fun and serve the Lord with the abilities he has given me!”

Elmore went undefeated last year in the 100m and won gold medals at the state track meet in both the 100 and long jump. She also finished second in the 200m and fourth in the 800m relay. She has twice set meet records at Okeene. She credits her success to hard work.

“My parents have taught me from a young age that you have to work for the things you want, and I fully agree with that,” Elmore said.

Elmore also plays basketball and is running for FFA leadership for next year. Her family is heavily invested in the world of agriculture.

“My family has raised Simmental and commercial cattle for many years. I am the fourth generation of my family’s cattle operation,” Elmore said. “We show and sell cattle all across the nation. My grandfather was an ag teacher which led my dad to being very involved and my mom was more involved in the farming and commercial side so with all that being said I followed in line very easily with being involved in agriculture!”

It’s not a job for the faint of heart, but it’s opened many doors in her life.

“I believe it is so crucial because it not only supplies food to the country, but also, being in FFA will help grow you as a leader and it gets you out of your comfort zone. It also teaches a lot of responsibility and time management when you have animals you have to take care of,” Elmore said.“Having animals is very time-consuming, and you have to have a work ethic to be able to succeed.”

In addition to setting state records and FFA leadership placement, Elmore also hopes to lead basketball to a state tournament appearance next year.

“I for sure would not be where I am today in sports and agriculture without my coaches, parents and the lord,” Elmore said.

After high school, Elmore hopes to run Division I track at Oklahoma State University and obtain certification to become chiropractor.
