Goals are an important part of life. They give us something to work towards and to keep striving to reach. And once we reach one goal, we set another one that allows us to keep working. Carter Bergdall says that while his goals are what keep him going as an athlete, there are a few other things that have also helped him become successful.
“What motivates me the most are the goals that I have set for myself,” Bergdall said. “With that mindset, I can always succeed. But to be successful in the sports I have played, I have also had to be determined. I always have a great mindset and am focused in serious times. I have also had to train a lot to improve my skills as a player and teammate.”
Carter is a senior at Oklahoma Bible Academy where he plays basketball and is also a member of the National Honor Society.
While he works hard to be his best, Bergdall says that the work he is doing is not the only thing that will help his team. His teammates have played a big role in his success and growth as a player.
“Treyton Owens is probably the player that I battle with the most in practice,” he said. “He is our starting point guard, and he is a great offensive player. Going up against him helps me improve my defense and him get better at offense. Kind of like iron sharpens iron. One player that is probably the most underrated is Jud Cheatham. He always came off the bench until halfway through the year until I came up to my coach and said he needed to start. He was not an offensive threat, but his defense was incredible. He always gave his best and I don’t think people saw that.”
When he is scrolling through his social media, Bergdall always makes sure to check out one person in particular.
“My favorite person to follow is Ja Morant,” he said. “He is my favorite basketball player and has been since he came into the league. I would say I have a similar playing style to him, and I try to follow his game.”
