GIRLS
Coach: Randy Roth
21-22 Record: 17-8
After having a solid season a year ago, the Lady Trojans are looking to make a deeper playoff run this season. Randy Roth, the team’s head coach says that their youth also gives them a good base for the future. “It looks to be a good year with four returning starters and five more girls who earned a varsity letter last season,” Roth said. “And all that with no juniors this year. The roster will be freshman and sophomore-heavy, with only three returning seniors.” One of the leaders on this year’s team is Conley Cayot (5-9, So.), who is a game-changer. She understands the game in ways that most high school players do not. She regularly asks to guard the opponent’s best player. Clara Caldwell (5-9, Sr.) is back again this season. She is the glue player for the team. She does all of the little things that oftentimes go unnoticed. She boxes out the other team’s best rebounder so that a teammate can get that rebound. She deflects the pass that a teammate ends up stealing. She dives for the loose ball that gives her team extra possession.
Leah Titus (5-11, Sr.)has done an amazing job after coming back from ACL surgery in her sophomore season. She is a strong post-defender and rebounder. She is the girl that keeps the rest of the team smiling and does a great job as a leader. Stepping up as a key member of the varsity rotation this season is Karson Jenkins (5-10, So.) She will draw the assignment of defending the post and collecting rebounds on the defensive end, and she will get a lot of looks at the basket on the offensive end. Karson has a great knack for finding gaps in opposing defenses and taking advantage of that space to score. Other Lady Trojans to keep an eye out for this season are Brianna Colby (5-8, So.), Emma Butler (5-9, Sr.), Lilyan Walden (5-8, So.), Emily Slaving (6-1, So.), Kami Jenkins (5-4, Fr.). The assistant coaches are Chris Cayot and Sherry Hofen.
