OFFENSE

Cashion became the first Oklahoma high school team to win 16 games and in the process raised the gold ball in Class A. The Wildcats offense is in the capable hands of multi-year starting quarterback Ben Harman (6-2, 165, Sr.). Harman absolutely obliterated the stat sheet in 2020, throwing for 4,116 yards and 58 touchdowns. He threw for two touchdowns and ran for two in the Wildcats’ dominant 34-7 state finals win over Thomas. Three receivers, responsible for catching 37 of Harman’s touchdown passes, are also back on offense. Mason Manning (5-10, 200, Sr.), Landon LaGasse (6-2, 190, Sr.) and Nick Nabavi (6-0, 200, Sr.) all shined as juniors. LaGasse hauled in a Harmon bomb for a late score at Pawhuska in the semifinals, giving the Wildcats a 7-6 win and the decisive score in an absolute rock fight of a game. Manning is the top returner in receptions and yardage, with 1,001 yards in 2020. Running back Max Brown (6-1, 180, Jr.) is the heir apparent to workhorse Caden Harrell, who graduated after averaging almost ten yards per carry. Guillianni Martinez (5-9, 280, Sr.) highlights a rebuilding offensive line at guard.

DEFENSE

Cashion must replace several stalwarts from a defense that allowed less than ten points a game against a more than representative schedule. Nick Nabavi is the top returning tackler at linebacker. Nabavi is smart, experienced and aggressive. Mason Manning also has seen a lot of action at linebacker. Defensive ends Camden Maroney (5-8, 200, Jr.) and Jackson Vandruff (6-3, 190, Jr.) return on the edge of the Wildcats’ 3-4 front. Lagasse and Gavin Phippen (5-8, 160, Sr.) supply the pass coverage at corner. Phippen is second behind Nabavi in returning tackles. Cashion is 49-5 since 2017 and Harman is 29-1 in his career as a starting quarterback. Numbers at Cashion are similar to many schools at the Class 3A level and many are waiting their turn to shine. It will be a difficult task to pry the gold ball from the Wildcats claws.
